For the month of February, Sisterhood will combine its Zoom Social and Book Club meetings with a special visit by New York Times best-selling author, soap opera insider, and pioneer in online storytelling, Alina Adams. Adams was born in the Soviet Union and immigrated with her parents to the U.S. at age seven, where she learned English by watching American soap operas at their home in San Francisco. Her book The Nesting Dolls spans from 1930s Siberia to contemporary Brighton Beach, NY. It has been called a page-turning epic family saga centering on three generations of women in one Russian Jewish family, each striving to break free of fate and history.
