Shabbat Connect

Dear Shabbat Connect Community,

We hope everyone is keeping safe and doing OK during this challenging time.

Thank you to our preschool-age participants, parents and grandparents for coming out to Mimi Greisman's TOT Shabbat. Also, thank you to our school-age friends who participated in songs and games with Ari Moshe and learning about the Torah and what it has to offer, with Reut Porat — BIJC board member, parent and Shabbat Connect co-founder.

We will move the next Shabbat Connect to November 9, followed by November 16. We start at 9:45 am, sing songs, join in the service, have snacks, learning and social time ending with the community Kiddush at noon. Family and friends are welcome!

“Where will your children find their Heroes?”

*Join us for Shabbat Connect*

Replacing J School is a new high energy youth program!

Perhaps you have asked yourself, “Do I want my children to learn something about the classic Bible stories… to recognize and be  comfortable with the Hebrew alphabet… to learn a little bit more about the holidays?” And most importantly… do you want your child(ren) to see Jewish life as something fun & exciting?

If you do, you will have to make a little effort because you will need to bring them! The new and exciting program is going to have a bit of a different approach than the old one… First, we decided that we want to teach our kids our traditions via stories, games and activities.

Second, we moved it to Saturday morning. Why? Because this is our holy day and there are Jewish traditions that happen in the synagogue that we want our kids to see and to be part of. Such as learning a few prayers for the opening of the ark and for the parading of the Torah... We want them to feel comfortable in the sanctuary and to know that they are part of something bigger… something that’s happening all the time all around us.

Third, we’re inviting the whole family…parents you can stay and be part of it and also bring siblings. Why? Because it’s not just a program for the children to “do Jewish” but to be a part of their own Jewish family.

Lastly, the educational piece is only one part. Of course, we will have celebrations for the holidays as well as family fun activities both inside and outside of the synagogue. Why? Because we are building community! We need opportunities for our kids and for ourselves to
get to know each other and have fun together so we can make and deepen lasting friendships!!

How does this work? Come at 9:45 twice a month (see our Calendar for dates). Grab coffee & a bagel. Gather in our circle. Hear the Hero Story of the Day. Program ends at noon with Community Kiddush.
