Petaluma's Inclusive Center for Jewish Life

Coming of Age Program

In our second year, we will continue to partner with other regional synagogues, to offer this nationally acclaimed program, Moving Traditions, for tweens and younger teens. Rather than focusing on the Bat or Bar Mitzvah itself, this program explores the meaning of becoming a young Jewish adult. It also provides an excellent platform to make Jewish friends across our broader regional community.

"Moving Traditions emboldens teens by fostering self-discovery, challenging sexism, and inspiring a commitment to Jewish life and learning."

The program will run once a month on weekends starting in October; times, dates and virtual and/or in-person are TBD. Please email rabbi@bnaiisrael.net  for more information and/or to sign up!

While this program may have a small cost associated with it, please contact us if that would present a hardship and we will work with you.

Our facilitator:

Laura Schiff is a recent Sonoma County transplant living in Petaluma and working as the Program Engagement Manager at the Osher Marin JCC. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Laura received a B.A. in Film and Jewish Studies from Hofstra University. She most recently worked as the Assistant Director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles's NuRoots Young Adult Initiative. Before that, she was Program Director at Camp Ramah in the Poconos, as well as Teen Engagement Coordinator for Union Temple in Brooklyn. Laura is so excited to get to know the North Bay Jewish community, explore all the local hiking trails and scope out the best boba spots in the area.
