Petaluma's Inclusive Center for Jewish Life

Shabbat Services

Saturday morning Shabbat Services take place every week in our sanctuary, both in-person and via Zoom. Masking is required inside the Center at all times. Please be vaccinated and boosted. Click to review: Current Covid-19 protocol.

Services are lay-led since the retirement of Rabbi Ted and until a new rabbi is hired. Members of the Ritual Committee will provide guidance for the service, deliver sermons and support those who come to say kaddish.  We will invite guest rabbis to lead services periodically. Please join us on Saturday mornings – in person or via Zoom – for a welcoming and spirited Shabbat morning experience. To request the Zoom link please email

Learning Synagogue Skills
Is your siddur-reading Hebrew a bit rusty? Would you like a refresher on how to chant the blessings for an aliyah? Have you always wanted to learn Torah or Haftarah trope? Is there something else you’d like to learn to feel more comfortable and confident in services? We would like to help you! Please contact Alisa at to express your interest.

Torah Study Group meets prior to Shabbat Service, from 9:00-9:30 a.m. in person and via Zoom. All are welcome to join, and volunteer to lead, a discussion. The Zoom link is the same as the Shabbat Service link.

Torah Study Group leaders for August will be Neal Cronin (August 6 & 20) and Morty Wiggins (August 13 & 27).
Neal currently leads services, leyns Torah, Haftarah and holiday text, and gives drashes at both B'nai Israel and Kol Shofar in Tiburon. He has done the same at Beth Ami in Santa Rosa and the Aquarian Minyan in Berkeley. Neal grew up in Long Island, New York, where he attended religious school and had his bar mitzvah. This Fall, he will begin an online rabbinic program at the Academy of Jewish Religion in Los Angeles, where he is pursuing an MJS (Masters of Jewish Studies) in addition to his rabbinate. Neal has an MBA and was a career senior project manager in the healthcare industry. He is looking forward to helping fellow B'nai Israel congregants understand and apply scripture through Torah study to enhance their lives and help others. He sees Torah as portable, enabling one to immediately apply its teachings every day.

Friday Evening Shabbat gatherings: We are planning to have four seasonal Kabbalat Shabbat events in the coming year. Stay tuned for details!

In order to protect our members and the integrity of our Shabbat service, we do not share Zoom links publicly. The link to our Zoom Shabbat services is sent with the BIJC Newsletter each Wednesday and Friday. If you do not receive the Newsletter you may email to request the Zoom link.
