7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Irène Hodes is the Director of the Sonoma County Jewish and Israeli Film Festivals, and the Director of Cultural Events at JCC Sonoma County. During her tenure, she successfully transitioned the film festivals to a virtual platform, and championed Jewish film, television, and online cultural content through the widely read "Virtual Daily" e-magazine.

Irène holds a BA from the University of Chicago where she concentrated in philosophy, French literature, and theater, and studied at the Samuel Beckett Center for drama and theatre studies at Trinity College Dublin. She holds an MFA in theater directing from Middlesex University London, and an MA (abd) in English literature and creative writing from Bar Ilan University, Israel.

Along with her experience curating Jewish and Israeli film, Irène has been a lifelong practitioner in the arts, as a performer, director, and creative writer, and has worked in journalism, editing, blogging, and public relations.

A Chicago native, she worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art before being granted a six-month arts residency in Israel’s Negev desert, creating an experimental film and writing a novel. Irène grew up in Skokie, Illinois, and has lived in five countries, most recently in Israel for seven years. She has reviewed and critiqued over one-hundred Jewish and Israeli films and television in the last two years.
